MfDR Capacity Scan

The Managing for Development Results Capacity Scan (CAP-Scan) is an analytical framework and participatory process that countries can employ to assess and strengthen their MfDR capacities. It was developed under the sponsorship of the OECD/DAC and with the technical and financial support of a core working group comprised of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), European Union (EU), Inter-American Development Bank (IaDB), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank.

The World Bank, UNDP and MCC coordinate and support the CAP-Scan process including maintaining materials, coordinating training activities, and working with governments and other partners.

Countries

To date, 20 countries have reviewed the CAP-Scan methodology and expressed interest. Mauritania will serve as the first pilot country. Their CAP-Scan team has discussed the methodology and process with representatives in Mauritania in two videoconferences. The CAP-Scan is tentatively scheduled to take place in early July. Papua New Guinea could follow in August. The CAP-Scan team is also in discussion with Moldova and the Kyrgyz Republic. Other countries showing keen interest are Kenya, Niger, Venezuela and Namibia.
